ChangePace terms of use
Last updated: [date]
These terms are between you and [legal name of the business], [address] ("we"). By creating an account you agree to them. Questions: [support email].
What ChangePace is
A running coach app. Your coach — written by Claude, an AI from Anthropic — builds your weekly plan from what you tell it and the runs you record, adjusts it, and answers your questions.
Your coach isn't a doctor
Your coach gives general training guidance, not medical advice, and it can get things wrong. It doesn't examine you and only knows what you tell it. For pain, injury or anything medical, see a GP or physio. Stop running and get help if you have chest pain, faintness, unusual breathlessness or a similar warning sign. You decide what training you do, and you run at your own risk — check with a doctor before starting if you have a health condition, are pregnant, or haven't exercised for a long time.
Your account
You need to be [16 / 18] or over. Keep your password to yourself; you're responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us the truth in set-up — your plan is only as safe as what your coach knows.
Price
ChangePace is free. If we ever charge for anything, we'll tell you first and you won't pay unless you choose to.
Using it fairly
Don't misuse the app: no trying to get into other people's data, overloading or reverse-engineering the service, or using your coach to produce anything unlawful or harmful. We can suspend or close an account that does.
Your content
Your answers, runs and messages stay yours. You let us store and process them to run the app for you, as described in the privacy policy. If you connect Strava, you ask us to post your runs there; Strava's terms apply to what's on Strava.
The service
We work to keep ChangePace running and accurate, but it's provided "as is": GPS distance, paces, race predictions and your coach's advice are estimates. We may change or stop features, and we'll give notice before closing the service.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Otherwise, we're not liable for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for business losses. [Phil: check this section with a lawyer, especially for a fitness app.]
Ending
You can stop any time — Profile → Delete my account deletes everything. We can end these terms if you break them, with notice where reasonable.
Changes and law
We'll tell you in the app about significant changes to these terms. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales [Phil: confirm], and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live.
